Compared to very manual jobs, office work has historically been considered relatively gentle on our joints and muscles.  However, over recent years it has become clear that prolonged sitting, sometimes in poor or awkward postures can be equally, if not more detrimental to our bodies than repetitive heavy lifting jobs.
